We enjoyed seeing many of you and meeting some new friends at
the Make-it-Fly®
Café last week. We love the beautiful new location—The
RiverFront. If you’re looking for somewhere to hold
a special event, call Ron Green at 303-865-8500.
Victoria continues to heal really well and already we’ve
been testing those new hips on the
tennis courts—so fun to be able to take
off and enjoy hitting balls for an hour!

Easy Entrées
Rich Fickle entered the competitive “full-meals-to-go”
niche when he and wife Robin acquired Easy Entrees early this
year. “We provide healthy, delicious entrees to be served
at home enabling good health, and great times with family and
friends,” he says. “Our menu has new items every month
and includes entrees, side dishes and desserts. Customers can
order via web, phone or walk in. We deliver or customers can pick
up at our store.”

Q: What do you find
most fulfilling about running your business?
RF: For us the fulfilling
part of the business is bringing joy to people through great food
and service.
Q: What motivated you to start
this business? What is your background experience in this area?
RF: Robin has a
gift for food and a nurturing spirit. She has been a personal
chef for several years.
We believe that through our service we can help make food a tremendous
source of joy and good health. We saw a need to make fresh delicious
meals available in a more convenient, affordable way in many situations
(busy families, seniors, those recovering from surgeries/needing
care, new moms, working singles, special events, etc.)
Q: What book has been most helpful
to you in your business?
RF: Most
recently, I read The eMyth Revisited by Michael Gerber,
which provides a great perspective on how to develop the business
in a positive way.
Q: Who has influenced you most
in your life?
RF: Parents/grandparents,
high school math teacher and the president of a company I worked
for early in my career.
Q: What has proved to be your most
successful marketing strategy?
RF: Building
terrific relationships with the community generating referrals.
Q: What have been the greatest
challenges you have had to overcome, or are currently facing,
in your business?
RF: Managing
day to day efficiently in order to allow us to focus on innovation,
marketing and building relationships.
Q: How did you benefit from participating
in a Make-it-Fly® board?
RF: Great
network of experts with an attitude of wanting to help.
Q: What would you say to other
business owners who are contemplating getting involved in a Make-it-Fly®
board?
RF: Make
time and do it!

Dave’s
Networking Tip:
If
you feel uneasy attending networking events,
try playing ‘host.’ Watch for people standing
alone, introduce yourself, get to know them a little and
then connect them with others. As you introduce them,
aim to tell something very positive about them. |

Tips to Help You Plan a Successful Day
By Victoria Munro
It’s easy to finish a busy
day wondering where all the time went and when
you’ll complete all those tasks you’d hoped to get
finished.
The tips below will help you get a head start on your day and
make sure your activities are in line with your goals. At the
end of the day, you’ll feel
good about what you’ve accomplished.
| 1. |
Take
time each day to plan—10-15
minutes (uninterrupted). Block this time out on your calendar. |
| 2. |
Before planning
activities for the day, review
your goals (long- and short-term), and consider
your progress to date. |
| 3. |
Decide on your
most important goal and
number-one task for the day. |
| 4. |
List and prioritize
all the tasks you want to accomplish. |
| 5. |
Assign
realistic times to each activity, and block
these on your calendar. Add up the time blocks to make sure
it’s practical. |
| 6. |
Know
when your prime time is—the
time during the day when you’re at your best—and
make the most of it. |
| 7. |
Take
frequent short breaks throughout the day.
Get away from your desk for a few minutes, stretch, take a
short walk. You’ll return energized and better able
to concentrate. |
| 8. |
Beware
of interruptions! When working on a high priority
task stay focused, let voice mail take your calls*, close
your email editor and jot a note in a Conference
Planner if you think of something important to tell someone. |
| 9. |
At the end of
the day, review your accomplishments,
congratulate yourself on achievements and discover what you
can learn from the tasks that were scheduled but weren’t
completed. |
| 10. |
Throughout your
day, and as you move forward towards your goals, remember
to keep a healthy balance between your work
life and time for yourself, your family and friends! |
*Leave a clear message letting callers know when
they can expect a return call from you, and be sure to call when
you promised to.

Victoria’s
Marketing Advice
Less May Be More
In today’s high-speed, information-flooded
world people are busy, often overloaded. To be heard,
you must communicate your message clearly, simply and
with an effective hook in 12 words or less. Distilling
what you want to say in this way takes time and work,
but will prove well worth the effort. |
