Thank you for your comments on the recent
article on Make-it-Fly®
in the Denver
Business Journal.
This week, Victoria is trying to get everything done before her
next surgery on
Monday July 7. (We’d appreciate your thoughts
and prayers.) Right now, she’s a little apprehensive, but
looking forward to having a ‘matched pair’ of new
hips!
|

|
| We received exceptionally
positive feedback on our Make-it-Fly®
Café
at the new venue. The
Riverfront is certainly a lovely venue for events—an
ideal
setting for good networking. They also offered a scrumptious buffet!
We plan to host the next two Cafés there on August 28 and
October 30.
In September, we plan to host the first Make-it-Fly®
Day Retreat, “The Balancing
Act” with speaker
Bob Heavers. Register online now and get the special
early bird price!
Our very best regards,
Dave and Victoria |

Belleview Animal Clinic
Just as people have different medical
needs, so do pets. “We understand how much
your pet means to you,” says Judy. “Our goal is to
provide you with peace of mind regarding the care of your pet.
We are dedicated to working with you in designing a health plan
that will facilitate a long and healthy life for your pet.”
At Belleview Animal Clinic, Judy offers
an alternative, holistic approach to your pet's health care.

Judy bought the practice from a retiring veterinarian
in 2003.
Q: What do you find most fulfilling
about running your business?
JJ: I find it most
fulfilling to help clients with their pets. I understand that
most pets are considered part of the family and work to keep them
as healthy as possible. I also enjoy educating clients and helping
them sort through all the information currently available in the
media.
Q: What motivated you to start
this business? What is your background experience in this area?
JJ: I thrive on
being able to practice my own style and follow my own medical
philosophies. I have been practicing veterinary medicine for 20
years.
Q: What book has been most helpful
to you in your business?
JJ: I am
currently reading The Slight Edge, which has helped me
tremendously in adjusting my focus and perspective.
Q: Who has influenced you most
in your life?
JJ: The
veterinarian who owned the clinic where I worked right out of
school. She was an excellent practitioner, and I learned a great
deal from her in the time I worked there.
Q: What has proved to be your most
successful marketing strategy?
JJ: Face-to-face
events, where I can meet and talk to people, such as farmers’
markets and trade shows.
Q: What have been the greatest
challenges you have had to overcome, or are currently facing,
in your business?
JJ: Dealing
with financial hardship, figuring out what to do about it and
seeing my way out of it.
Q: How did you benefit/are you
benefiting from participating in a Make-it-Fly®
board?
JJ: I feel
a great benefit from realizing that every issue that arises has
a solution—it is just a matter of finding the right resource
to help. My fellow Make-it-Fly® board
members help me to find the right resources.
Q: What would you say to other
business owners who are contemplating getting involved in a Make-it-Fly®
board?
JJ:
Make-it-Fly®
is a great way to sharpen your business skills and opens the doors
to many helpful resources.

Dave’s
Networking Tip:
Find
ways to add value to each person you meet
at an event. Perhaps recommend a book or article you recently
read, or a restaurant you enjoyed, offer an introduction
to someone they should know, give a referral or tell them
about other good networking venues.

Keep
in Touch With Your Clients…
and Potential Clients
By Victoria Munro
Keeping in touch with clients and prospective clients yields
big dividends, plus it can be fun!
Don’t allow everyday busyness to crowd out this really
important activity. Remember, clients are the heart of your business,
so you need to let them know you
care. If you don’t, your competitor will.
Below are some ideas to make keeping in touch easy, fun and
effective:
 |
Summer
is the perfect time to invite clients and possible future
clients to attend a ball game or concert, enjoy a round of
golf, game of tennis of a hike. |
 |
Host a backyard
barbeque or plan one at a local park. Invite those whom you
know will enjoy and benefit from getting to know each other. |
 |
Create a schedule
to call them on a regular basis with no sales agenda, just
to see how they’re doing. Ask what’s new and find
out if they have any needs you could help with. |
 |
Arrange to meet
at your favorite coffee shop. Ask questions and listen,
giving your undivided attention. Turn off your cell phone! |
 |
Find out about
your clients’ needs—personal as well as business.
Note what’s important to each of them, and then be alert
to ways in which you can help. Perhaps send related articles
or ideas when you come across them. Introduce them to others
who might be able to help. |
 |
Give gifts. You
don’t need to spend a fortune—something small
and creative can be very meaningful. Use your imagination.
If you need extra inspiration, Joan Schlaefer of Gift
to It! will be glad to help. |
 |
Send cards. We
all love to know that someone is thinking about us. Build
a database of your clients’ special events: birthdays,
business anniversaries, etc. These make wonderful excuses
for ‘client touches.’ |
Plan on keeping in touch with your
clients and potential clients this summer, and reap sales in the
future. Enjoy the process and always, always,
always be sincere!
